The PDP (-OS) plug-in device series for reliable MCR protection

In this era of Industry 4.0, it enables the automated control and remote monitoring of systems, sensors and actuators. To ensure system availability and prevent financial losses due to production downtimes, OBO surge protective devices protect electronics against damage caused by lightning strikes and surge voltages.
In the type PDP universal data cable protection devices, the OBO portfolio has now added a further MCR protection product series with plug-in covers. The PDP-OS devices also allow visual signalling and remote signalling.

Connectable covers
The PDP plug-in data cable protection guarantees high system availability, because the covers can be replaced easily during maintenance without the need to interrupt the signal.
This avoids complex rewiring. In addition, the integrated voltage coding in the covers and bases prevents incorrect assignment.
PDP-OS with visual signalling
In combination with the PS power supply, the PDP-OS devices also offer an LED function display for visual signalling.
This means that it is clear at a glance whether the connected system is still protected. Remote signalling is also possible via the power supply.
For each power supply, a block with up to 25 surge protective devices can be connected and monitored.
This means that combining all the PDP-OS variants in a single block is child's play.
Remote signalling of the entire block is implemented via the power supply.
The new generation in data cable protection is extremely versatile
All the devices of the PDP (-OS) series can be used in a wide range of ways in a frequency range of up to 100 MHz. Tested according to DIN EN 61643-21 (D1/C2), the plug-in data cable protection offers reliable MCR protection.
The PDP is available in the four variants 5, 12, 24 and 48 V for 2 or 2x 2 signal wires per cable.
Due to their sensitive signal levels, data cables are particularly susceptible to interference, meaning that cable shields are used to minimise this. For effective protection of a system, it is important that the cable shields are connected to the equipotential bonding at both ends. The connection can be made directly or indirectly. The devices of the PDP series are therefore available in versions for both directly and indirectly earthed systems.
