Project description

The new Control Centre of Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS) at Munich airport is one of the key air-traffic control projects in southern Germany. From 2017 onwards, more than 1.5 million flights per year will be steered through German airspace from the 15,000 square metre building. From the start, OBO was a part of the construction project, worth 40 million euros, and supplied a large number of cable support systems.

During the building of the Control Centre, a total of 15 kilometres of different OBO cable support systems were routed. The largest order volume results from the fact that the technology in the air-traffic control room was created with redundancy, in order to offer perfect safety, even in the case of faults.

Why did the customer choose OBO products?

Due to the large amount of mounting work required, cable support systems were used which can be mounted particularly quickly. The requirements were fulfilled by the RKSM Magic and GRM cable support systems, whose patented quick connection systems allow time-saving, easy mounting work. OBO cable ladders and luminaire support systems were the perfect complement to the Magic systems. After an equipment, testing and training phase of about three years, the new Control Centre is expected to start work in 2017.
